Our Mission

Welcome to Nā Leo Mele, where the heart of Hawaiian music comes to life through the joy of karaoke. We are a dedicated team of four individuals, each born and raised on the beautiful island of Oahu. Our upbringing was filled with the sounds of traditional and contemporary Hawaiian songs, playing on the radio and resonating in our hearts.

Together, we share a deep passion for preserving and promoting Hawaiian music. Our collective experiences and love for our cultural heritage have inspired us to create Nā Leo Mele, a nonprofit organization devoted to keeping the rich musical traditions of Hawaii alive for future generations.

In Hawaii, karaoke is more than just a pastime; it’s a beloved part of our culture. Whether it's a weekend gathering or a weekday get-together, karaoke parties are a common and cherished activity across the island. However, despite the popularity of karaoke, we noticed a significant gap: 99% of our treasured cultural songs were not available to sing through karaoke.

At Nā Leo Mele, we saw this as an opportunity and a calling. Our mission is to bridge this gap by bringing traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music into the karaoke scene. We believe that through karaoke, we can celebrate and share the beauty of our music in a fun, engaging, and interactive way. By curating a comprehensive database of Hawaiian songs, complete with lyrics and translations, and providing mobile karaoke setups to community centers, schools, and public events, we aim to make Hawaiian music accessible to all.
